Visualized here is very much based on Liam Young’s Machine Landscape, city sized automated machines extracting, processing, and refining resources for human consumption over the Svalbard archipelago. Most people present here are the small crews, present only in the event of mechanical failure or autopilot malfunction, aboard their cargo flyers, which can be seen in the foreground docked to the sky harbour. Map data provides a clear indication to the delicate natural features of the archipelago, industrial systems are required to be built on or over the ocean to ensure what little land remains is protected.
